Carbon and credits
Net zero
Net zero means an organisation has cut its emissions as far as it can and balanced whatever remains with an equal amount of carbon removal. The order matters: reduce first, then remove what is genuinely left.
The residual is meant to be small and hard to eliminate, which is why credible targets set a reduction path alongside the removal commitment.
Demand for durable removal comes largely from organisations working through this sequence, which makes them the steadiest buyers in the market.
