Remote sensing
Remote sensing is measuring land from satellite or aircraft rather than from the ground. It gives repeated, comparable coverage of an area over years, which no field team can match, and it cannot tell you what species is growing or whether a tree is healthy underneath the canopy.
It covers every hectare on every pass rather than a sample, which is what makes it the right partner to ground sampling.
Pairing it with ground checks is what turns a green cover reading into a statement about what is actually growing.
