Feedstock

Feedstock is the raw material a process runs on: crop residue for a pelleting line, dung and green waste for a digester, woody biomass for pyrolysis. Securing a steady supply is usually the part of a project that needs the most planning.

Feedstock is seasonal, bulky and low in value per tonne, so collection, storage and transport decide whether a plant runs all year.

Growing part of it on the same land as the plant removes most of that uncertainty, which is one reason the energy and restoration work sit together here.
