Vegetation index time series over a recorded boundary, compared across seasons and years.
Satellites record reflected light in bands beyond visible light. Healthy vegetation strongly reflects near infrared while absorbing red, so the relationship between those bands gives a vegetation density index. Comparing the same boundary across dates shows whether cover is rising, holding or declining.
